Making the Most of the Transits of Chiron

This webinar will explore the rich potential of Chiron transits, focusing – as we always should with all transits – on how they facilitate growth and self-development.
There is little doubt that during Chiron transits we may become acutely aware of how vulnerable we are in a particular area of life, but this may paradoxically turn out to be the proverbial ‘blessing in disguise’ as it puts us in a better position to guide others who face similar issues to ourselves. But there is more to Chiron transits than that. They bring many other gifts: a wise acceptance of ourselves and the way things are, a willingness to embrace our initially uncomfortable sense of being ‘different’ from others, perhaps different in ways we may not have chosen. The transits may also symbolize a chance to close the gap we often perceive between the material and spiritual worlds. In other cases, they may signify opportunities for us to learn to handle challenging circumstances, and to do so in a way that is highly resourceful and brings out in us some very special, unique qualities.

For centuries, retrograde Mercury has been blamed for all sorts of inconveniences in our daily lives such as major misunderstandings, delays when travelling, lost possessions, and carelessly written business contracts that lead to serious problems. Even in these more enlightened times, retrograde periods still seem to arouse a great deal of unnecessary anxiety. Why is this so? This seminar aims to take a deeper look at the retrograde periods of Mercury and to focus on the opportunities they present to rethink things, reconsider our opinions, review our progress, and reflect on the past.
We will also consider retrograde Mercury in the birth chart. There’s evidence that throughout history some individuals with retrograde Mercury had a hard time, particularly during their early years or during their time in the educational system, simply because they didn’t think in the same way as others, and as a result their unique talents were often not fully recognized. We consider why that might still happen even today and how society needs to value those who can think ‘outside the box’.
And what happens when progressed Mercury turns retrograde? It can spend two decades or more in that state. We will consider the symbolic meaning of such a period and ask how someone can prepare for it and maximize its potential. And how might an individual have changed mentally and psychologically by the time Mercury moves direct again?

In Synastry (the astrology of relationships) we have three ways in which we look at an individual’s relationships:
First, by examining the natal chart we identify the person’s relationship needs and style. Second, we compare the two natal charts of the people in a relationship to each other and see which areas of life and psyche are activated by the other. This comparison enables us to gain a sense of the interaction between the parties. Finally, we can combine the natal charts to create one chart – the composite chart. This chart represents an independent entity, the energy of the relationship itself, not how the individuals affect each other.
Stevi is running two seminars over two weeks focus on Synastry. In this first seminar she will give a practical demonstration of interpreting the cross aspects between two people in a partnership. How are they likely to relate to each other? Where might they find harmony? In which areas are they likely to feel ‘triggered’. We will look at two different couples and will also take into account the possible impact of transiting planet on the relationship.

A composite chart is the result of two birth charts being combined in some way to create one chart. The composite chart is an entirely new chart which represents the relationship itself, as if it were an entity. It looks like a birth chart but its planets and angles represent the relationship’s personality, how it is experienced in the life of the couple. The composite chart impacts both partners and will draw out certain qualities from the individuals as well as imposing its own dynamics on both.

Some methods of forecasting identify events in your life, periods when you are invited to develop your experience, and times when you may choose a new direction. Secondary Progressions are different. Following a timeframe that is truly your own, progressions mirror the ebbs and flows of your inner life. Progressions help you understand what’s happening on the inside which, in turn, will colour how you experience things on the outside. Solar Returns are one of the most popular and frequently used forecasting tools. It’s no surprise that both professional astrologers and astrology students are so keen to set up this chart just before their birthday as it can show so clearly the essential character of the year ahead.
Their importance lies in the fact that they reveal how Solar principles are expressed in any 12-month period, giving invaluable information on what the individual’s ‘mission’ might be. We can see from the chart how the person can best express their creative power and pursue their purposes and objectives in the course of the year.
However, we can sometimes get over-excited about our Solar Return if we’re not careful; and as with all forecasting techniques, we must keep in mind that they show potential rather than a series of fated events. It’s important to keep them in their place when producing an astrological forecast and to use them alongside other techniques. So, how should they be interpreted and used when preparing a forecast? And what about the relationship between the Solar Return and the birth chart? How can they be compared in order to provide further insights?
And what about the Lunar Return, a technique used rather less frequently but based on a similar principle? These can provide fascinating information on an individual’s emotional self-expression in a particular month and on the unfolding of lunar principles over that period.
By examining some examples, the webinar aims to shed light on both of these charts and to give some practical tips on how they can be used to produce an astrological forecast.

Whether we are wrapping up loose ends or wrapping up gifts, many of us approach the Winter Solstice in a bit of a frenzy. Yet as the Sun reaches the southernmost point in its annual journey – the southernmost declination – we are invited to pause, to reflect, to be still. Soon enough, a new journey will begin.
The Moon also has her own rhythm, her own undulations – yes, through the monthly phases but also through cycles of declination. Every month, she reaches a northernmost point in the sky and every month a southernmost point as well. Could we incorporate this into our astrology? Furthermore, these turning points of declination aren’t always at the same degree, and in early 2025, we’ll experience one of the rare limits in what is called a Major Lunar Standstill. What might this mean in astrology?

Saturn transits are often misunderstood and seem to have a bad reputation that is quite unjustified.
Their crucial role in helping us to define who we are and enabling us to acquire the practical skills, resilience and focus to achieve our goals, is often overlooked, perhaps reflecting a natural human tendency to avoid sustained hard work if at all possible, and to try to get what we want quickly and easily! Saturn is also a powerful symbol of our relationship with the inexorable and relentless passage of time and our willingness, at all periods of our lives (even when we’re very young!), to embrace the ageing and maturation process rather than run away from it.
This webinar focuses on the higher purpose of the transits of Saturn, aiming to go beyond the usual misleadingly negative interpretations based on ideas such as restriction, frustration and melancholy. We will look at some examples of how Saturn can assist us in developing a sense of responsibility in all areas of our lives, and how – at best – it can even symbolize the slow process of acquiring a little wisdom!

This is a webinar for anyone who has ever feared darkness. The quest for meaning in life often elevates us towards the illuminated sky. We draw on images of heroes and saints that inspire us to strive to be better than we are. Yet, there is another aspect of spirituality that emerges from below, from the mud and the dirt. Images of Pluto are associated with descent and darkness. The lord of the underworld can lead us on a journey that can sometimes feel like having our boundaries of self-protection being violated. However, Pluto, in Greek mythology, means “the rich one.” In this journey, he offers us treasures that are unimaginable to the world of the living. This webinar will be approached in a multi-layered fassion. We will study Pluto’s astronomy, mythology, astrological signification and we will add some further interpretations from Jungian psychology. This will be a rich webinar in the hope that we can explore many different approaches to transiting Pluto. We will also examine chart examples. And hopefully, we will find life in the mud.

The Chart Ruler, sometimes called the Ruler of the Ascendant or the Ruler of the Horoscope, is a planet that takes on the extra duty of extending the meaning of the Ascendant itself. It gives us more information about how and where the topics of the Ascendant are played out, such as how the person approaches new beginnings, the lens through which the person view the world, first impressions, etc. When we interpret the Chart Ruler, we can’t forget the planet’s usual functions, but we specifically need to consider its additional role as a type of ambassador for the Ascendant. We need to interpret the Chart Ruler’s sign and house placement, and we’ll even consider the aspects made to other planets – feeding this information back to the meaning of the Ascendant. But minor aspects can reveal subtle layers of meaning that significantly influence our lives. In this webinar, we will study how to link minor and major aspects by interpreting some of the patterns they build together: the Yod, the Finger of the World, the Hard Rectangle, and the Mystic Rectangle. My aim is to provide a clear framework for working minor aspects and understand how and when to add them to your readings. Even today, with so much light pollution, two lights rule the heavens: the Moon and the Sun. The Moon can be thought of as our inner world, representing our emotions and sense of security, while the Sun may be seen as our outward energy, symbolising our goals and ambitions. These two luminaries, as astrologers often call them, sometimes work in harmony but sometimes seem to be at war. The combination of their sign and house placement can offer us valuable insights into our unique character. If we understand their relationship, we can foster an inner marriage in which our inner, unconscious world (Moon) and our outer worldly identity (Sun) establish a fluent dialogue with each other. In the past, it was called an alchemical marriage, to which one could arrive after years of self-awareness. Once achieved, a deep sense of wholeness should emerge. In this webinar, we will explore the astronomical properties of the Sun and the Moon and the symbolic interpretations of those. Then by using astrology and some concepts from depth psychology, we will study the astrological relationship between them, uncover different ways to understand their connection (even if they are not in aspect) and learn how to encourage this alchemical inner marriage to blossom from within.

In their tool kit astrologers have all sorts of things that light their candle. Arguably the Moon’s nodes are one of them. The north node and the south node are two symbolical points that stand at the intersection of the Moon’s orbit and the ecliptic that highlights the Sun’s journey. As a result, the meaning of these nodes is derived from the Moon and the Sun, taking on their universal signification, and respectively pointing in the direction of attachment that fosters belonging and a sense of security on the one hand, and on the other the awareness of our journey towards development and becoming who we are. In addition, the Moon’s Nodes derive meaning from being an axis with the south node opposing the north node. Symbolically oppositions speak of relationships, the ones that enable us to relate to someone else, as much as the ones that help us interact with the world at large. In this foundation level webinar, we will learn how to fully integrate the intrinsic qualities of the Moon’s nodes in chart interpretation and see how their symbolism dynamically interacts with the rest of the natal chart. With a view to understanding how critical these nodes are to reading a natal chart, our study will lead us to cover all sign and house oppositions these nodes find themselves in, otherwise shedding light on a fitting topic that probes our skills at differentiating signs and houses.
