How does it work?
Discover the flexibility of studying astrology from anywhere in the world with the Faculty’s Distance Learning programme. Designed for students who need a study schedule that adapts to their lifestyle, this email-based course offers the freedom to learn at your own pace, with full support from an experienced tutor.
When you enrol, you’ll gain access to the Faculty’s Online Learning Environment (OLE), where you’ll find all the course materials and exercises for each module. The OLE also includes access to our student forums, where you can engage with a vibrant community of fellow astrology students from around the world, sharing insights and discussing key concepts.
Each module contains a series of exercises designed to help you develop your skills and understanding. While the number of exercises varies by module, you can expect to dedicate around 4 – 5 hours per week to your studies.
One of the key features of the Distance Learning programme is the personal feedback you’ll receive from your tutor. Once you’ve submitted your exercises, your tutor will provide detailed feedback – usually within three to four working days, but always within two weeks. This feedback includes both general guidance and specific insights, helping you to refine your understanding and improve your skills. Your tutor may also offer personalised suggestions for further reading or alternative approaches, ensuring that your learning journey is as rich and rewarding as possible.
With the Distance Learning programme, you’re never alone on your astrological journey. You’ll be fully supported by your tutor and have the opportunity to connect with a global network of students, all while studying at a pace that suits your life.
Flexibility in your learning
One of the key advantages of our Distance Learning programme is the flexibility it offers. You can fit your studies around your existing lifestyle without needing to stick to specific days or times. Whether you’re juggling work, family, or other commitments, Distance Learning allows you to learn at your own pace and on your own schedule.
However, if your circumstances change or you wish to experience live classes, you can easily switch to one of the Faculty’s other learning methods. You may choose to continue your studies with our London Classes, conveniently located for students from both the UK and continental Europe. Alternatively, you can join our Online Classes if you prefer a more interactive setting. Some of our modules are also available at the Faculty’s annual Summer School, held each year at a prestigious college of the .
Please note, once you begin a module through one method of study, we ask that you complete it in that method before switching to another. This ensures you gain the full benefit of the tailored resources and learning environment for each approach.
Whether you continue with Distance Learning or switch to another study method, you’ll benefit from the same high-quality course materials and expert tuition.

How long does it take?
Each module: 6 months tuition time + optional extension.
Start anytime! When you enrol on a module in Distance Learning, you are given 6 months tuition time to complete all the exercises in that module. The one exception to this is if you are taking both pathways at Module 7, you have 9 months tuition time available. Should you require more time for any module, you may purchase a Tuition Extension for £55, giving you an additional 3 months of tuition time.

From beginner to advanced in 9 modules

The Foundation Course is designed for complete newcomers to astrology as well as those who wish to consolidate their previous knowledge and reading within a structured course.
The course aims to provide you with a foundation in the language of astrology and the ability to interpret a birth chart with confidence. You will learn to calculate and draw up the birth chart, be introduced to the solar system, the seasonal year and to the astronomy which forms the basis of our magical art. You will also be introduced to the history of western astrology and encouraged to explore your own ideas about the nature of astrology.
Completion of the Foundation Course is a significant achievement in itself and will provide you with a solid basis for more advanced study.

Diploma Level 1
Aim of Level 1
The aim of Diploma Level 1 is to extend and deepen students’ skills in natal chart interpretation, encouraging an imaginative and sensitive approach to astrology. Through Level 1 modules, students learn to interpret a natal chart over time using forecasting techniques, including transits, solar returns, secondary progressions, and solar arc directions. This level also introduces students to the ethical considerations of good practice and encourages an exploration of astrology’s relationship to fields such as philosophy, psychology, literature, religion, science, and the mystery traditions. Diploma Level 1 provides a comprehensive grounding in interpretation and forecasting, building a solid foundation for future professional development in astrology.

Module 4: Time I – Transits and Solar Returns
An overview of planetary cycles and the fundamentals of forecasting through transits and solar returns, as well as a look at astrology’s place within broader thought systems.Module 5: Time II – Progressions and Directions
Introduction to symbolic timing techniques, such as secondary progressions and solar arc directions, with practical examples.Module 6: Intermediate Interpretation
Practical training in combining interpretation and forecasting techniques. This module also introduces consultancy skills and prepares students for live chart readings.
Intermediate Practice Module (Optional)
An optional half-module for students seeking additional practice before taking the Intermediate Interpretation Exam.
Diploma Level 2
Aim of Level 2
The aim of Diploma Level 2 is to broaden students’ astrological understanding, focusing on the dynamics of relationships, the individual’s connection to the collective, and the development of professional consultation skills. At this level, students explore interpersonal relationships through techniques such as synastry and composite charts, as well as the deeper psychological and ancestral dimensions of family astrology. They also learn to apply astrology to the wider world, including astrocartography, local space astrology, and mundane astrology, enabling them to place individual charts within a broader social, historical, and geographic context.
The culmination of Level 2 prepares students for professional practice by developing consultancy skills, ethical awareness, and advanced interpretation techniques. Through practical experience and live chart readings, students gain the skills to offer insightful, responsible, and professional astrological consultations. Completing Diploma Level 2 is a significant milestone, equipping students with the advanced knowledge and expertise needed to confidently begin their journey as professional astrologers.

Module 7: Optional Pathways
Module 7[R]: The Astrology of Relationship
Focuses on relationship astrology techniques, including synastry and the composite chart, as well as family dynamics and ancestral themes.Module 7[T]: Advanced Techniques
Covers relationship astrology along with advanced techniques such as midpoints and harmonics, appealing to students interested in adding more tools to their astrological practice.Note: Students can choose one pathway for Module 7 or both (additional fee).
Module 8: The Astrology of World and Place
Introduction to astrocartography, relocation, and mundane astrology, exploring the individual’s relationship to the wider world and collective context.Module 9: Astro-Consultancy and Advanced Interpretation
Training in consultation skills and ethical considerations, with a focus on preparing students for live chart readings. Includes recordings of client readings as part of the learning materials.
Advanced Practice Module (Optional)
An optional half-module for additional practice before the Advanced Interpretation Exam, allowing students to conduct client consultations under tutor guidance.
Complete Foundation Course
For students beginning their studies with us, there is an option to purchase the Complete Foundation Course rather than purchasing Modules 1, 2 and 3 separately. There are two advantages to this option:
- You are offered 18 months tuition time for the full Foundation Course, so if you complete Module 1 in 5 months rather than the usual 6 months, for example, you can ‘bank’ the extra month towards Module 2 or 3.
- You save £65 compared to the cost of purchasing Modules 1, 2 and 3 separately.
There are two things to keep in mind, however:
- When you purchase modules separately, you can take a break between modules if you need it. With the Complete Foundation Course, you are expected to continue working steadily.
- Should you need any extra time beyond the allotted 18 months, you have only one opportunity to purchase a 3-month extension.
How to enrol
Studying the modules in their regular sequence and engaging in only one module at a time best supports and enables your astrological development.
