At our Summer School 2013 gala dinner, we were delighted to award two honorary diplomas. The Faculty rarely makes such awards; the only two of the last twenty years have been to Rob Hand and Bernard Eccles. Two exceptional candidates however were identified by the Faculty Council and the awards made at this year’s Summer School: Darby Costello and Dr. Nick Campion.
Darby Costello is a very experienced astrologer and lecturer, and is head tutor at the Centre for Psychological Astrology. She is a Classes tutor for the Faculty and already a much-loved part of the tutoring team. The Faculty is delighted to recognise her astrological expertise and wisdom through an honorary diploma.
Dr. Nick Campion is Director of the Sophia Centre, which offers the pioneering and highly successful MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology. This degree offers a rare opportunity within the academy for the historical, philosophical and cultural study of astrology. When the Faculty was founded in 1948, one of the aims was to bring astrology back into the university curriculum, hence the name ‘Faculty of Astrological Studies’. Nick has also directly contributed to the work of the Faculty through long association, in particular providing the material on the History of Astrology that diploma students learn from to this day.
Congratulations to both Darby and Nick on their awards. We look forward to continuing to work with them in the future to promote the ethos of the Faculty and its core vision to provide excellence in astrological education.
