What sort of relationship do you have with Mars? How can we build a stronger and healthier relationship with the ‘warrior within’?
In Greek myth, the god Ares is rarely presented in a favourable light and has sometimes been dismissed as a rather limited, one-dimensional figure. In traditional astrology, Mars was categorized as a ‘malefic’ whose energies needed extremely careful handling. Even today, we still tend to be ambivalent about many of the things that Mars represents, regarding its raw power and uncompromising energy as potentially problematic, both for the individual and for society as a whole. How can Greek myth illuminate our understanding of the astrological Mars? And nowadays what social and cultural attitudes do we have to all that Mars represents?
To bring the subject matter to life, we’ll look at the charts of notable individuals whose lives embody different sides of Mars, which will remind us that the planet can be expressed in a multitude of surprising ways. There will be a particular focus on the role of Mars in major aspect patterns such as the T-square and the Grand Trine.
